About Tita Luisa

tita-luisa-singer songwriter Eugene Oregon Lane County With over thirty-five years of experience, Tita Luisa has the ability to capture the essence of a moment, a memory, or an emotion and weave it into what becomes a very meaningful song.  She enjoys writing for special occasions and loves seeing the joy a custom written song brings.

Through TL SONGWRITING, Tita Luisa hopes to bring the concept of custom songs to everyone.  “Your special occasion deserves the best!  Just like when you shop for the perfect greeting card, you can have that “Hallmark” moment with a personalized song.  A song that directly hits the mark, instead of a song you heard on the radio that “more or less” says what you want it to. I’d like to write a song for you that will express how you feel through a collaborative effort.  Even if you don’t have a musical bone in your body, you WILL be the most important component in the process of writing a song for your special occasion!”

Tita Luisa was born and raised in San Francisco, the youngest of five children. As a result of living in a city with such cultural diversity, and growing up in a musical family with interests in varied genres, she was given a broad view of what music can be. Along with the mainstream music on the radio that everyone was listening to, she also enjoyed Jazz Fusion, Latin and Brazilian music. The short version of the long list of musical influences include Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Stevie Wonder and other Motown Artists, Joni Mitchell, Chick Corea, Flora Purim, Pearl Bailey, James Taylor and Kenny Rankin.

Telling the story of her first “public performance” she says “At the age of 4, I was hit by a van and found myself in the hospital for 9 days. With a captive audience of nurses, doctors and other kids in the children’s ward, I proceeded to sing pretty much non-stop! I sang all the songs I knew in English and in Spanish, over and over. (Laughing) It was probably cute for the first day or two…!” She dabbled with playing her fathers’ guitar and tickled the ivories on the piano, and as a teenager settled into learning to play the guitar to accompany herself. Songwriting came soon after, along with performances on local television and public radio stations.

As an adult, Tita Luisa moved to Oregon where she raised her family. While living in Bend for a short time, she became a member of the Central Oregon Songwriter’s Association (COSA).  During that time, she won several awards for her songs and performed at Bends’ Summer Fest, COSA’s Song of the Year Award Shows at the Tower Theater and McMenamins, and on KPOV FM Bend.

Tita currently resides in Springfield, Oregon enjoying time with her family and working on her next CD.

Ah memories! Writing a custom song for this Pirate-themed wedding was fun (it so happens it was my daughter's wedding), and so awesome when you hear from people months later on how much they STILL enjoy the song and video! Sweet!! ... See MoreSee Less
